Kim Benjamin is the Founder and Managing Attorney for 2 law firms - the Missouri DWI & Criminal Law Center and the Missouri Accident & Injury Law Center at the Benjamin Law Firm, with locations in Belton and Kansas City, MO.  Her career as a trial lawyer has enabled her to have more than 300 bench and 75 jury trials.

Kim’s criminal defense law firm is honored to be named in the top 30 out of 355 criminal defense law firms in the Kansas City metropolitan area by Expertise.com.  Kim’s awards and honors include being named a SuperLawyer, and receiving the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL) Atticus Finch Award, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) Distinguished Counselor Award, and the Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Women’s Justice Award for Litigation.

As a leader in the legal community, Kim serves on the board of directors for the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD), MACDL, and the Cass County Bar Association (CCBA).  She is proud to have been appointed by the Governor to a term on the Missouri Ethics Commission and to currently serve on the Missouri Supreme Court’s Criminal Justice Task Force.

Kim regularly presents at local and national organizations such as the NCDD, TLC, Missouri Bar, MACDL, Missouri State Public Defender, and KCMBA.  For the past several years Kim has been the chair of the Bernard Edelman DWI Law & Science Seminar in Missouri.  She also has been invited to speak on Court TV about trials in the national news.

Kim enjoys teaching in addition to running her 2 businesses.  She often teaches other lawyers how to try civil and criminal cases and has done so for over a decade because she is on the faculty of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College (TLC) and also NCDD.  She finds great satisfaction in offering lawyers her services as a trial coach to help them prepare for their civil and criminal trials.

Kim graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1993 and George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC, in 1996.  As an Air Force brat she chose to work at the Pentagon just as her father had when she was a child, but a law school professor said, “No!  You are meant to be in a courtroom. You are a trial lawyer!”  So she returned home to Missouri and her first job as a lawyer was at the Missouri State Public Defender’s office (MSPD) in Kansas City. Then in 2002, she returned to her hometown of Harrisonville, MO where she initially opened her solo practice of the Benjamin Law Firm, LLC.
